Mounting advice

Super-Isol boards are lightweight and easy to cut enabling you to create the custom fireplace of your choice. The material is class A1 non-combustible, it contains no ceramic fibres and the surfaces are dust-free.

The following information is meant as a guidance and as general advice for fireplace builders:

Mounting a new fireplace with Super-Isol boards:

  • Ordinary woodworking tools can be applied.
  • Use a 3M dustmask when cutting.
  • Pre-drill the screw holes and assemble with large thread wood screws.
  • Allow for ventilation clearance at the top and bottom of the construction to utilize the heat from the chimney and to avoid overheating inside the construction. See Fireplace manufacturer’s manual for detailed instructions.
  • If the construction is placed against an inflammable wall, make sure the required ventilation distance is observed according to the approval applying to the particular fireplace. Ventilation is VERY important.
  • Plaster the surfaces with a gypsum based filler.
  • Before applying the final finish, the surfaces should be primed with building silicone to prevent glue or paint from drying out too quickly.
  • Do NOT use organic material in the construction and surface treatment, as this may cause bad smell or vapours when the fireplace is heated.
  • For large fireplaces we recommend using steel frame partitions.
  • For ventilation and expansion purposes, leave a gap of 2.5 cm all the way around the fireplace insert.

Local building and fire regulations must be observed
