Skamol has extracted moler from the Danish underground since 1912 and we are experts in this particular type of diatomite that by nature is enriched with a particularly and unique high content of clay. In the beginning, the entire production process from digging up the moler to handling the bricks was done by hand, but today, our production is fully automated and optimized, ensuring customers high and consistent quality and good terms of delivery.
All the moler processed at the plant is excavated from the Danish underground, right next to the factory. Our own moler pit ensures the production at least 150 years into the future. This gives our customers a unique security of supply.
Since the early 80s, we have worked closely with the Danish authorities on how the excavation site must be left after digging ends. We strive to make the excavations as environmentally safe and responsible as possible, and we are committed to re-establish the sites as natural areas with full public access once we stop digging.
